Local History Museum by Verovka, Berezna

The only museum in Ukraine named of Gregory Verevka!

 

It was in Chernihiv region, in the village of Berezna, where he was born, that the museum of the world-famous composer and conductor of the same name choir, Grigory Guryevich Verevka, was opened! Unfortunately, in Kiev, where he lived and worked there was not even a museum-apartment or a room in his honor.

 

In December 1895, Gregory was born in a poor family by the sixth child. His father, the regent of the church choir, was his first teacher of singing and music. My father saw talent in his son and, after three classes of the local school, sent a bishop's choir to Chernihiv, then - training in a religious school, a seminary. The guy played the violin, which, by the way, is now kept in the museum. She was traded by Gregory from a friend on skates donated by her parents.

 

Next - study at the music institute, the conductor attempts to student choir. The first job is a music school. Then Grigory Guryevich already knew how to play various musical instruments, learned singing, tried to write music himself. The musical career of a talented musician is going well: managing the national philharmonic society, teaching at the conservatory ... and suddenly ... war. Verevka continues the work of his life; collects folklore, writes patriotic songs about Ukraine, tours with the ensemble along the front line. His dedicated work is noticed and decided to create the State Ukrainian Folk Choir, whose leadership is entrusted to Grigory Guryevich. It was a difficult year for Ukraine in 1943!

 

Verevka managed to collect and create such a choir, he has existed for 75 years under his name, this is already a brand of Ukraine! He is known abroad already half a century.

 

In the museum of G. G. Verevka in Berezna personal belongings of the composer, conductor, costumes, musical instruments, costumes, posters, notes, photos of the choir, his performances, tours are stored. There you can also listen to audio recordings of choir performances from different years.

 

Opposite the museum, the only one in all of Ukraine, located in an urban area, is a singing field! There are concerts in the summer, including the annual regional festival of Ukrainian songs to them. G.Verevka .

 

How to get there!?
To get to the museum is easy: from Kiev to go by bus or own car on the route "Kiev - Chernigov - Gremyach" in the village. Berezna (170 km). In the very center of the city, turn right and 100 m museum.
The entrance ticket to the museum is 10 UAH together with an excursion.
