The history of the museum dates back to 1910 - it was then at the initiative of Baron Steingel that it was opened. The museum in its original form did not last long: for ten years with the advent of the Polish authorities, the museum was closed, thus putting the mission of reviving the power of enthusiasts. The Rivne Museum, which still exists today, was built in 1940: then the authorities realized the need for a place where the sights of Rivne region would be collected. In the forties, the museum was granted the status of a natural profile. By the way, such thematic exhibitions are held in the museum and now.
After World War II, the museum was enriched with exhibits from various museum funds of Ukraine. If in the post-war years the number of museum exhibits exceeded ten thousand units, now this figure has increased tenfold - to one hundred and forty thousand!
