Some stories says, that the Northern Red gully was formed as a result of a meteorite falling on this place about 400 million years ago. Due to geological and natural features in the 80s, this territory was included to the list of landscape reserves of national importance.
But a little bit of industrial can be found even here. A special object of this area is the remains of bridges. First, at the end of the 19th century, one bridge was erected and the Saksagansk branch of the Ekaterininskaya railway was built over the gully. And in 1935, the next one was built on 30-meter pillars. In 1956, both bridges were dismantled due to the creation of quarries at this place.
On the remains of the stone pillars of the second bridge you can still find the stigma of bricklayers. And under the arches - small calcareous «stalactites».
The views of the reserve, opening from this place are truly incredible. In addition, the stone pillars have long been chosen by adrenaline junkies for climbing and rope-jumping. The «Everest» Club conducts trainings for local climbers here. For this purpose, one pillar was equipped with necessary equipment and safety stations. From March to November, on weekends they organize rope-jumping from the pillars.
Annually private and city mountaineering and rock climbing festivals are held on the Red Bridge. And by 2014 "Kryvyi Rih Airsoft Corps" had regularly played games here. There were even night ones.
How to get there?!
You can get the Red Bridge by bus №291 (every 10 -15 min), №231 (every 5-7 min); trolley bus №10 (every 4-32 minutes), №18 (every 47-79 minutes) from Kryvyi Rih. Getting off at the “Central” bus stop in Terny, go back a little and turn right toward Observatorna Street at the crossroad. You will have to walk along it to the very end (about 1.7 km), then turn left and move on, keeping on the left side for about 1 km.
