Preobrazhensky cave monastery in Naugolne village (Luhansk region) is the unique place with no analogues in Eastern Europe that was confirmed by scientists from Ukrainian Archeology Institute. These cave have been forming during few centuries, starting from the 17th. This process can be divided into two phases - first from the 17th century to 18th, when these cages were formed, and second from the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th, where those cages were united into one gallery.

One more feature of monastery that drew attention of archeologists is the painting of Christianian symbols on the walls of cages. When it was just found, it was hard to get into it due to narrow passage below one meter high and ten meters long, but now it became a safe for excursions place with an average high level around two meters and stroke length of 230 meters.

There is the praying room in caves, refectory and carved altar. Talking about its address, it is hard to find certain coordinates, so it’s better to go there with excursion and professional guide to take the complete information about this place. So take your flashlight, good mood and friends with you and go to explore this magnificent monastery!

Caution! Part of Donbass is occupied during the military aggression of russian federation against Ukraine!

The armed aggression of russia against Ukraine since 2014 has led to the loss of homes and lives not only of many Ukrainians, but also citizens of other countries and nationalities.

We consider unacceptable and senseless any military actions against any country in the 21st century, but unfortunately the leadership of the russian federation does not think so, and therefore many independent countries, including Moldova, Georgia and our homeland Ukraine, suffer from senseless aggression.

Therefore, until the occupied parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions will be demilitarized and returned to Ukraine, including other territories of independent countries, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND for users of our site do not visit the territories occupied by russia, including the Crimea, this can be dangerous for your life.

For now, our website contains only tourist attractions that are in territories controlled by Ukraine and located far away from the combat zone, therefore, thanks to the Ukrainian Army, the visiting of these place a 100% safe.
