History: From Ramparts to Art Park

The site has deep historical roots: the defensive earthworks of the ancient Upper City ran through here, and the hill above the ravine forms part of historic Old Kyiv Hill — the cradle of the capital.

The alley took on its current «fairy-tale» character around 2009, when a children’s art space appeared with sculptures by Kyiv artist Kostiantyn Skrytutsky: mosaic benches, fountains, fantastical characters. Contemporary sculpture and installation spaces were added later. A once-neglected path became one of the city’s most beloved photo spots.
