Kharkiv was the capital of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic and the most brilliant period in the history of the city.

For the first time in the world - the lithium atom was split, the construction of the first high-rise building in the USSR - the Gosprom and one of the largest squares of the world - all this happened in the history of Soviet Kharkiv.
