Boim Chapel in Lviv is one of the most notable attraction of this city. It was built in the 17th century over Boim’s family crypt. George Boim was the royal secretary of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth times, he came to Lviv in the 16th century, where he became Catholic, got married and started to develop trades there. In the 17th century he asked to built funeral chapel for him and that’s how this chapel appeared and got its name.

One of the customer’s condition was the ask to show the wealth, spirit and history of his pedigree by facade and the whole look. His family got famous because of his relative Mykhailo Boim, who lived in China and wrote lots of works about local biota that are kept in Vatican.

This chapel is also famous in artists’ communities, as it represents the talented mix of Baroque and Renaissance, on the western facade there are beautiful decorations and on the first tier there are statues of St. Peter and Paul and portraits of the representors of Boims’ pedigree, while on the second are paintings of Christ that prayed in Gethsemane yard. Besides, there interior nowadays is the same to interior of the 17th century, so this special atmosphere stays in chapel even in the 21st century.
