One of the main attractions of Lviv is the Church of Saints Olga and Elizabeth or the Temple of Saints Olga and Elizabeth. The neo-Gothic church was located opposite the railway station. It is safe to say that the church is a symbol of the love of a powerful man for a beautiful woman, which inspires the spirit of romance.

In 1903, Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary laid the church in memory of his beloved wife Elizabeth, or "Sisi," as Joseph himself called her. The family life of the couple was full of tragedies and insurmountable circumstances. Franz Joseph I was a famous admirer of beautiful women, but really loved only one - his wife Elizabeth. In 1898, after the tragic death of his wife at the hands of a terrorist, the emperor laid with his own hands a monument to his beloved wife and named it after her.

The church was built for eight years. The process was led by architect Teodor Talevsky. A few years later, during the First World War, the church endured the first ordeal. Church bells were melted down for military use. During the Polish-Ukrainian war from 1918 to 1919, the wrath of Ukrainian artillery fell on the church. The church was at the epicenter of hostilities and was badly damaged. In 1939, the building was damaged by a bomb that exploded nearby. The walls of the temple were significantly destroyed.

In 1946, during the reign of the Bolsheviks, the church was closed. Many years later, in 1991, it received a new name in honor of Saints Olga and Elizabeth and was transferred to the patronage of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. A lot of effort and time was spent on the restoration of the temple. But today the church of St. Elizabeth is completely restored and is happy to receive guests. The church perfectly blended North German and French Gothic architecture with an "admixture" of Romanesque style. The Church of St. Elizabeth offers guests of the city free to enjoy the mysterious atmosphere of the church every day from 8:00 (without a break) to 19:00. Also from 2014 you can visit the observation deck on one of the towers of the church.
