Lviv synagogue “Golden Rose” was nearly diminished with German invaders in the Second World War times, but as it was preserved it is considered as a really special one, besides, there are few reasons for that. First of all, this is a Jewish synagogue that was built in 1582 for the money of Jewish community. It was built in Renaissance style and in the 16th century was located just in the center of Jewish district, well, nowadays this is Bliakharska street.

The second reason of uniqueness of this building is its history of existing. Synagogue’s name “Golden Rose” is vernacular, because it’s real name was “Turei Zakhav”. It was built on the place where existed brothel that was scandalously closed and that part of the city was considered to be not good to visit and live in. So local authorities gave that territory to Jewish community in order to humiliate them.

But then some non-governmental organizations started to claim on this building and in 2001 locals decided to destroy it as an old-fashioned historical memo. Besides, in 2012 before UEFA authorities wanted to be built there a hotel. And as for now, this synagogue is unreachable and is considered to be an abandoned place unsafe to visit.
