Back in the times of Kievan Rus, at the turn of the XII-XIII centuries, wooden defenses stood on the site of the ancient settlement Kamenetz-Podolsky. Prince Daniel Galitsky decided to develop and strengthen during the struggle with the Mongol-Tatar troops. After the collapse of Kievan Rus, these lands became part of the Galician-Volyn principality, but the very scheme of building such fortifications originates from the Tripoli culture. The Lithuanian princes, later came to Kamenets, simply restored the fortress, making it stone, to replace the wooden structures that were the basis of the then castle.

Rebuilt the fortress for hundreds of years, during the reign of the Rzeczpospolita. Italian Camilius, a military engineer by profession, led the construction of the seven towers, so the fortress was completely reconstructed. It is thanks to Camilius and other architectural masters, among whom Jan de Witte, Christian Dalke, that the city of Kamyanets-Podilsky is still a real treasure and “manual” on history, in particular history of fortification. In total, there are 16 towers in the fortress, and practically each of them not only can perfectly perform the defensive function, but also boasts a rich history.

How to get there !?
To find out about the legendary towers and if you want to make a trip in time, after wandering through the magical fortress you need to get to Zamkovaya Street 1 in Kamenetz-Podolsky, where this magnificent building is located.
