In the city of Kharkov there is a wonderful museum of history and railway equipment of the Southern Railway, which everyone should definitely visit, because its past and present is there, and the future will be created tomorrow.

So, the museum began its existence from July 7, 2014. This date was not chosen by chance, it was at that time that the Southern Railway celebrated its 145th anniversary of its foundation.

The museum includes three halls in which exhibits and the open area of rare technology, which was in operation at different periods of the development of railway tracks, are located.
In the first hall you can see the development of railways, metal sleepers of the early 20th century, as well as the museum’s exposition has a rail pad made of wood and bicycle tires. The latter was used by gendarmes to move around the territory during its inspections. The second hall covers the history of the rolling stock. Here you can see the models and layout of the railway equipment of the famous Kharkov modeller Boris Fedorov, who made his unique collection with his own hands. The third hall is presented with an acquaintance with the railway signals, the communication service and their adaptation, as well as the exhibition has a reconstruction of the office of the engineer of the railway.

Locomotives, diesel locomotives, electric locomotives, motor-wagon rolling stock, freight car, rare equipment are located in the open area, there is a lot of space to take interesting photos as a keepsake.

After the museum, do not forget to visit a small cafe, which is located nearby, to drink coffee or tea, which will not bring you a waiter, but bring ... a train. Yes-yes ... in the center of the cafeteria there is a reconstruction of the railway ... But that's another story ...
