A modern museum is a very complex organism, where various objects are preserved, evidence of a person's attitude to the world, works of art. In order for the museum to work efficiently, it requires diversified knowledge, extensive experience, worker consistency, community support.

The Babayev Museum was founded in 1978 on a voluntary basis, as a museum of Battle and Labor Glory. It was located in one hall, covering an area of 200 sq.m. There were not many exhibits, mostly - letters, letters, flags, subjects of the period of the Second World War. There was a small corner of ethnography.

A great contribution to the development of the museum was made by: Romanenko Leonid Petrovich, teacher of physics Babayevskoy secondary school and Yakovenko Galina Grigorievna, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the department of world history of Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after Gregory Skovoroda. Leonid Petrovich, as a veteran, carried correspondence with veterans. Almost all of the windows are made with his hands. Galina Grigorievna, as a historian, while working in the archives of Kharkiv, gathered enormous information about the history of the village, about the princes of Shcherbinin, about the Archangel-Mikhailovsky temple. She systematized the information and was edited by the book "Babai. A short essay on the history of the village. "

In 2006, the reorganization of the museum took place. He got a new room. Over the past 12 years, the museum has been replenished with a large number of exhibits, which made it possible to open new expositions. In 2015, under the decision of the session of the Babayev Village Council, the museum was named "Babayev Historical and Local Lore Museum". Today the museum has 6 halls.

The largest is the "Hall of Fighting Glory", which also houses a conference room. In this room, items of the Second World War are displayed: soldiers' letters, letters, and also stands containing information on the veterans of the Babayan village and its liberators, international soldiers. There is a corner devoted to the Chernobyl people - fellow villagers.

In the hall of ethnography are stored tools of the period of the late XIX - early twentieth century. Ethnographic material tells about the life and life of the peasants. Here are wonderful examples of the Ukrainian national dress of the Sloboda region. Potteries of all regions of Ukraine and household items are shown: markets, cauldrons, jugs, makitri, cast-iron, wooden nights, a collection of embroidered shirts, towels, trunks, tools of agricultural work and tools for handicraft production.

The history hall of the Babai settlement dates from the present time to information about the princes of the Shcherbinin, about the Archangel Michael's Temple, (SLIDE) about staying in the village of the famous philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda, who visited his friend, the Archangel's priest -Michael Temple in the 70 years of the 18th century , Yakov Righticky. He was friendly with Shcherbinin. Some Babylonian philosophical treatises were written and 15 of the 30 fables of Kharkiv.

Since 2010 in the village of Babay held a cultural and artistic holiday "Garden of Skovoroda songs", in which the museum takes an active part.

There are materials about people who left their notable traces in the history of the village. Village leaders: Mikhail Maslennikov, Ivan Voloshan, Fedir Ovrashek, Nikolai Yushkov, Volodymyr Chertok, Alexander Moroz, director of the Red-party "Red Partisan" Nikolai Sofienko. In peacetime in 1958, the title of the Hero of Socialist Labor was awarded to the head of the collective farm "The Way of Lenin" Krivolapov Gabriel Ilyich. . Oleksa Marchenko - teacher, journalist, poet graduated from Babayevskaya school.

In the fourth hall - 50-70 years of the 20th century, the corner of the Klavdia Shulzhenko collection of Soviet-era watches, a collection of handbags of stringed instruments.

In the 5th floor there are collections that introduce archeology, bonistics, numismatics, philately, philocarty, philotheism, and phallisticism. Collection of porcelain of Ukrainian factories: Gorodnitsy, Budy, Polon, Kyiv experimental, Druzhkovki. . There are also paintings by local painters Georgy Berezhnyi, Nikolai Drozdny, artists-self-educated Ivan Blagot, Vladimir Rogov, and Yevhen Borysenko. There is a gift of the famous architect of Kharkov Alexander Leibfreyd - a picture of the Babayevsky pond, which is written with a watercolor.

More recently, we have opened a new hall: "The nature of our land." With the help of the local inhabitant Alexander Solovyov and General Alexander Kryushenko, the museum was replenished with skillfully executed scarves of animals and birds.
The museum is visited by students of schools, as well as schools located nearby: Pokotylivka, Karachivka, High, locals, children from schools in the city of Kharkiv. Often in the House of Culture there are district events, so the whole area is familiar with the museum.

At first glance, the placement of exhibits in the museum seems not entirely scientific, but the museum, firstly, is replenished at the expense of local residents, and each visitor wants to see his gift. Secondly, the limitations in the area do not allow the location to be arranged in accordance with museum standards.

The museum has long come out of the framework of a simple exhibition and storage of historical and cultural monuments. The museum has become the center of aesthetic and patriotic education of youth. At the museum there is a circle of history and regional studies. The members of the circle conduct excursions, study the history of their land, help organize exhibitions. In March, an exhibition of an old postcard was opened. Now an exhibition of embroidery 50 -70 years of the 20th century is being prepared. On the basis of the museum, together with the school, there are all events dedicated to public holidays and memorable dates. Days of memory of fellow villagers: Heroes of the Soviet Union, Philip Potapenko and Serhiy Yarmak, poet Oleksa Marchenko and others are held.

Thus, the museum actively participates in the upbringing and formation of the consciousness of local youth. Teaches to love his homeland, respect the older generation.
