In the city of Pryvillia is an unusual place created for those who remember and honor the memory of fallen soldiers of World War II. A place is little known, but degree of its greatness is large. Historians call this area the second Stalingrad. It is now known as the "Pruvilnianskyi Foothold".

The town of Privilya is located on the right bank of the Siverskyi Donets River, 15 kilometers north-west of Lysychansk (Luhansk Region). The monument was built at the bottom of terikon of mine named after Artem. The locals call it "Mount Artem" where ascending the mountain, you can see earth cut from the remains of trenches, dugouts, places of bursting shells and mines. It offers a unique panorama of a memorial, which from satellite reminds us the Star Order, and a play of landscape paint in the area of the monument.

A bit of history: during The World War II in Pryvillia were fought fierce battles, which served as a further impetus to the liberation of Donbass. The city was occupied twice by Nazi invaders, the occupation of a small town, which had been frontline all along, continued for almost 400 days and nights (from July 10, 1942 to February 6, 1943 and from March 3 to September 2, 1943).

Particularly bloody were the battles at the foothold Privolnyanskyi in May - September 1943; The place was chosen not accidentally – it was comfortable for landing. The right bank of the river is everywhere high and cut by ravines, that creates great difficulties for the advancing soldiers, but here it is rather flat. In addition, the river is twisting at this point, so the landed troops was not amenable to flank attacks. The results of the devastating fighting are large-scale, more than 20 thousand people were killed.

To commemorate the 65th anniversary of the victory over the Nazi Invaders was created memorial that will be a worthy reminder of those nameless soldiers who gave their lives at this place for our bright future. Also near this place were the DOTs and the firing positions of the Germans. Now the remains of German fortifications can be found not far, nearly 100-150 meters from the parking by the memorial.

No matter how far the time goes, whatever changes take place, their feat will never go dark, they will live forever. "And children's voices will be ringing at the foot of these monuments, Ukrainian nightingales will be singing, thunderstorms will roar. Newlyweds will come to the monuments, veterans will bow their gray heads, children will bring flowers. And they all know: we have forgotten nothing, forgetting will not touch heroes. " Not everyone will have the courage to visit this place because of its location. But believe me, it is worth of putting flowers at the foot of the monument and remembering again those soldiers who fought for our land and victory.

Caution! Part of Donbass is occupied during the military aggression of russian federation against Ukraine!

The armed aggression of russia against Ukraine since 2014 has led to the loss of homes and lives not only of many Ukrainians, but also citizens of other countries and nationalities.

We consider unacceptable and senseless any military actions against any country in the 21st century, but unfortunately the leadership of the russian federation does not think so, and therefore many independent countries, including Moldova, Georgia and our homeland Ukraine, suffer from senseless aggression.

Therefore, until the occupied parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions will be demilitarized and returned to Ukraine, including other territories of independent countries, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND for users of our site do not visit the territories occupied by russia, including the Crimea, this can be dangerous for your life.

For now, our website contains only tourist attractions that are in territories controlled by Ukraine and located far away from the combat zone, therefore, thanks to the Ukrainian Army, the visiting of these place a 100% safe.
